Indiana State Road 450. To date, I've found no better road to drive a Corvair than on this 25 mile stretch of pure automotive bliss. Beginning just west of Shoals, 450 travels northeast to Bedford. It takes you through Dover Hill and its seemingly endless "S" turns through the heart of town. Up in Williams, you'll want to stop at the Williams Dam on the East Fork of the White River. From there, it's on to Bedford where I suggest you stop by the Antique Auto/Race Car Museum at 450 & SR 370. Throughout the trip, you'll encounter endless dips, turns, twists, the thick woods of the Hoosier National Forest...everything that makes you love your Corvair that much more...what I like to call "perfect road karma." Unlike highway building of today, 450 honors the terrain and follows the contours of the land. It's a road meant to be enjoyed...not just driven.
Until our next journey....
