OK_TX200514.JPG (267073 bytes) Last year, we made a similar trip, and again visited the Deluxe Inn, which was formerly the Big 8 in El Reno, Oklahoma.  The Big 8 Motel was featured in the movie Rain Man. We had found the same room Tom Cruise and Dustin Hoffman stayed in and looked in the windows and were surprised to find that the room was different (even though we'd heard the movie scene was filmed in that room. In the film, the bathroom is shown directly in the back wall of the room, opposite the entrance door. When we peeked in the windows, the bathroom was off to the right side (?).  Pat decided to investigate and walked around the back. He found that at the room, the back wall had been cut out and replaced.  Pat's theory is that for logistical filming reasons, they needed to have the bathroom in the back, and constructed a fake bathroom set in back. When the movie was done, the room was restored back.
