Pat had the idea to do a cruise on Route 66 in Illinois with some of our Route
66 friends. We started from the Luna Cafe in Mitchell and headed north on
66. With Pat and I were: Randy and Melody, Kent and Mary Sue, Marge,
Fran and Dolly, Denny, Shellee and her son Trevor, Kip and Quinn, and Jane

Deck's Drug Store, Girard - Deck's was an old
pharmacy (with soda fountain!) which had been in operation since the
late 1800's. It closed last year, but it appears to have new life
as a different operation. Deck's Ltd. "I Gotta Bead",
soda fountain (yay!) and coffee emporium. It was closed as we went
by since it was a little late in the afternoon Saturday, but I think
I'll make it a point to go there sometime! |
