Bunyan Muffler Man at the House of Doors -
West
Johnson Avenue, Cheshire, Connecticut This muffler man was almost removed from his post when an ordinance in Cheshire was passed prohibiting statues. He was able to stay when they replaced his axe with a flag, thus he became an acceptable "flagpole" rather than a statue. He has a twin brother in Sullivan, Missouri! |

Prospect Dairy Bar & Restaurant -
Waterbury-Prospect Road, Prospect, Connecticut
"Back in 1953 if you were passing through the small farm town known as Prospect you could have stopped at the Dairy Bar for ice cream and other fresh dairy products that were straight from the Visockis' farm down the road. Vincent did the cooking and his wife Olive prepared all the soups and sandwiches. In 1984, John and Carol Jones assumed ownership of the Dairy Bar and also the tradition that accompanied it. For the first time ever, the Dairy Bar was kept open year round. Even though some cosmetic changes and expansions have taken place, there are some things that will always remain the same about the Dairy Bar, Prospect's oldest continually run business; the hand-painted mural depicting Prospect's local landmarks, the checkerboard floor, the fresh baked pies, the daily specials, the char-broiled burgers and homemade soups are sure to remain." |

Dr.
William Hutchings Office - Madison, IN (Click hyperlink for more
information) We visited here during a Corvair club trip to Madison, Indiana, and it was very interesting. It was a 19th century doctor's office and "hospital" which is the same as it was at his death in 1903. They have all the doctor's medical textbooks, instruments, etc. |
